Roblox analytics dashboard: what to check before your next update

Use Creator Dashboard to investigate your game's performance: access rules, daily players vs CCU, retention maturity and a five-step pre-update check.

Sources checked November 7, 2026.

Use Creator Dashboard to investigate your Roblox game's performance. LaunchBlip adds a compact digest of your authorized metrics and what to check next.

The official analytics dashboard is where you dig. A digest is where you notice. This guide walks through a short routine you can run before each update, using only what Roblox documents and what LaunchBlip actually imports.

What the official dashboard covers

Roblox's analytics dashboard groups key performance indicators into retention, engagement, acquisition, demographics, feedback and monetization. Open it from your game's page on Creator Dashboard, then pick a category in the Analytics menu. Analytics dashboard (opens in a new tab), engagement (opens in a new tab).

Access has conditions. Roblox documents that a game needs more than 10 daily active users and 10 play hours for 7 consecutive days to be eligible for all KPIs, and the owner needs a verified email and two-step verification to enroll. For group games, only the group owner and members with analytics permissions can view the dashboard. If a chart is empty, check eligibility and permissions before assuming something broke. Useful built-in tools:

  • Date filter and zoom to isolate the days around a release.
  • Filters and breakdowns by source, platform, country, language and more. Roblox notes that platform and OS counts can include the same person more than once if they use several devices.
  • Explore, with period-over-period overlays and a 7-day moving average to smooth weekly patterns.
  • Benchmarks for some KPIs, shown as a 50th–90th percentile range of comparable games.
  • CSV export of chart data for your own analysis.

Daily players are not CCU

Daily active users (DAU) count distinct people who played during a reporting day. Concurrent users (CCU) count people in the game at the same moment. A game with a short evening peak can show a high CCU spike and a modest DAU, and the reverse is possible too. Read them as different questions: "how many people came today?" versus "how many were here at once?" For a deeper comparison, see Roblox CCU vs daily players.

Retention needs time to mature

Retention is measured from the day a player first played. A Day 7 figure for players who started three days ago does not exist yet, and processing adds more delay. Treat the newest cells as pending, not as zero. Retention (opens in a new tab), API date rules (opens in a new tab).

A pre-update check in five steps

  1. Write down today's baseline. Daily players, Day 1 and Day 7 retention, average session time and Robux for the last complete days, with dates. Roblox's daily buckets are UTC.
  2. Note anything else happening. Ads, events, weekends, outages or another release can move the same numbers.
  3. Pick one primary metric that your change should affect, and one guardrail that must not get worse.
  4. Check performance first. If crashes or errors rose after the last release, fix that before reading engagement changes. Performance (opens in a new tab).
  5. Set a review date after enough complete days, and after the relevant retention cohort has matured.

Benchmarks are context, not targets

Roblox shows benchmarks from games with similar players, or genre or all-game sets when it can't find enough similar games. Benchmark sets can change over time. The percentile figures in Roblox's documentation are an example, not a goal for your game. Compare with your own previous cohorts first. Benchmarking (opens in a new tab).

Where LaunchBlip fits

LaunchBlip reads the metrics you authorize with a read-only Roblox sign-in and compares them with your previous 7-day average. Free covers one game with a Monday digest on your dashboard and stall alerts. Pro and Studio add daily digests, drop alerts and Discord delivery. LaunchBlip currently imports Day 1 and Day 7 retention, not Day 30, so use Creator Dashboard for full cohorts.

LaunchBlip is not a replacement for Creator Dashboard and not a public-game market tracker. It points you at what changed so you know which chart to open.

Limitations to keep in mind

  • A before/after comparison is a clue, not a controlled experiment.
  • Missing, pending and zero are different states; check which one you are looking at.
  • Adding device counts does not give unique players, and adding daily players does not give weekly unique players.
